I'm Expiring
Well, friends, my Xanga expiration date is looming - one week from today. I renewed two or three weeks ago, but haven't heard anything. I wonder if I used the right email address to contact Eugenia. Can those of you who have renewed recently tell me how you did it, so I can figure out if there's something I need to do differently? How did you contact Eugenia? My gut feeling is that she's the only person working on subscription updates and other "Help" issues and is overwhelmed. Anyway, I'll be leaving on vacation before my site expires, so I might disappear for awhile until my site is renewed. Don't worry about me; I'll be back once my subscription is straightened out and I'm home.
In other news, I feel like I'm expiring. The cherries are coming on like gangbusters, the raspberries are beginning to get ripe and the strawberries are still putting out some fruit. I picked all three this morning. I've pitted and frozen some cherries, with a whole bunch more yet to do, and the trees are still loaded with ripening fruit. Once I was done picking all that fruit, I took Boo for a nice long walk, then came home and cleaned up the backyard. I mowed, and ran the weed-eater until the battery died. My left arm is all shaky now from holding the weed-eater for so long. By the time I finished all that, rode my bike to the post office, hosed off and dried the lawnmower and weed-eater and returned them and my bicycle to the shed, I needed another shower and shampoo and a lie-down in my cool, dark bedroom. Now I'm procrastinating; I should be in the kitchen pitting those cherries and making pie dough for homemade pop tarts to take with me on the road trip. There's also some wet towels that need to be washed, and supper to eat (thank heaven for leftovers).
I am already paying for all that work, and I've taken a pain pill to try to ward off the back, neck and arm pain. But the work needed to be done and I needed to do it a few days before I leave so I'm not paying for it at the beginning a thousand-mile drive. (Two thousand miles if you count the return trip.)
Okay, I suppose I've stalled long enough. The cherries are starting to heckle me from the kitchen. See you one of these days... hopefully soon.

The only way to pay Xanga is through PayPal. I contacted Eugenia at help@xanga.net -- if you participate in PayPal, you can take it from there -- it's $48. If you don't have a PayPal account, Eugenia will send you a form to use (though it didn't work for me, and I ended up establishing a PayPal account that I'll use once a year for Xanga!). When you make your payment to PayPal, Eugenia will want a copy of the receipt they send you -- you can forward the one PP sends to you. It will then take about 2 or 3 days for her to set you up. If you tried, or sent it to the wrong address, Eugenia can help you untangle that, again at help@xanga.net. I think your gut feeling is right, but she was quick in responding to me, so you may not have used the right address.
I did the PayPal payment and forwarded the receipt to Eugenia@xanga.net - the address I used last year. I'll try help@xanga.net. Thanks, Janet!
That sounds like a lot of work -- hope the fruit goodies come out well -- not sure I would have thought of miy pop tarts!!!
Oh, sorry -- I hit send too soon! Have a wonderful trip, and drive carefully!!!
@saintvi: She may have a problem updating the expiration date before the subscription expires. I hope you don't expire!
Yep. It took about 2 weeks to get my subscription to reactivate. Very frustrating. I am packed (just need to add my phone charger, meds, and checkbook to my carry-on). All the caches are loaded and I'm hoping that the flight is on time and goes smoothly.
Have a good trip! We'll see you in Denver in a few days. I added sparklers to my shopping list.
It's wonderful that you get so much fruit. This year I cultivated less than half a dozen raspberries in my yard.
oh my, the fruit sounds wonderful!!
Hiya! I JUST returned to Xanga and paid for a year and I had to email Eugenia directly via the Xanga help email. Once I paid via email she needed me to forward the confirmation from PayPal with my username so that she could activate my account. It did take her a few days to get back to me, so I wouldn't doubt she's probably very busy.
All that fruit sounds wonderful! Last summer my mom picked up some bulk strawberries and blueberries from the interior so I could make jam. Never made jam, though. I just froze it all and used them for smoothies
I still have a whole bag of last year's blueberries in my freezer. I guess I don't make enough smoothies lol.
