Believe
Drip drop
April shower
Soothing, greening
Dripping, dropping
May flowers waiting
I believe
For every drop of rain that falls
Another leak
Drips drops
On my windowsillThere is a lovely spring shower going on outside my window. There is an unlovely series of leaks going on inside my window. The old wood at the top of the window frame has a long crack in it and it took me awhile to realize the soothing, gentle dripping sound I heard was coming from inside the window. I had just sat down to look at today’s prompt for murisopsis’ NPM Scavenger Hunt and maybe get a start on writing a poem before 11:00 tonight. I got as far as looking at the prompt - #3 Believe. Then I went away in my head, remembering 6th grade choir and singing that song, “I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows…” About that time I looked over and realized the window was leaking and revised the words to, “I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a new leak forms in my window.” Except I think I threw in a "damn" somewhere. Sigh. Brett thought he had this problem fixed last fall. This is the first time since then that we’ve had rain blowing onto the front of the house, testing his repair.
Here are a few more things I believe that I couldn’t fit into the poem:
- I believe I need to go scrounge up some old towels.
- I believe my husband will have a project this weekend while I’m out tramping through the woods with murisopsis.
- I believe we’re going to have to scrounge up the money for new windows before long.
- I believe my poem about believing did not go in the direction I wanted.
- I believe I don’t really care because it’s still a poem and that makes me 3/3 for National Poetry Month and…
- … I do believe that every day I post a poem since Day 2 is a new record for me. Woot!
- I believe I’m done for today.

I believe your right...Woot Woot for the record though!
Proverbs 27:22
Though you grind a fool in a mortar, grinding them like grain with a pestle, you will not remove their folly from them.
A very good poem too! I hope the window can be fixed instead of a costly replacement - but Brett is good - I'm sure he can figure out a repair that will take care of the problem. It was pouring here this morning. I hope we don't need waders on Saturday!! I'm thinking I need some wellies...
I believe you are on a run!!! (and having fun!)Ok, now I am done.
I was once laughed at for using "believe" where they used "think". A Southern thing.
Go on and make your poem as you follow the grains of a rosary.
Love
Michel
