  • Unfollowing

    I just unfollowed about 1300 blogs so I can see my subs without having to go through 20 or 30 pages of posts. I'm sure I unfollowed some that I shouldn't have, but I can always fix it later. I don't like having Friends and Subs combined like that. I was expecting it from what @John said in various posts and the interview with @roadlesstaken, but I hoped I misunderstood. What do you guys think of the "Reading" feature? Do you like having Friends and Subs combined? Just curious if it's only me who finds it annoying.

    My problem is when I have a comment from someone, I do not find link in this comment to visit my commenter's site. I find you with "reading on the dasdboard but I am not sure that all" of my commenters are in it . I have to go ancient entry to find their name-link

  • I like it okay but I'll have to figure out who to keep and who to boot. I'm hoping it's not as overwhelming as it looks because I think lots of those people aren't posting regularly.

  • I learned that same lesson. I want to have my Xanga friends and subs be the majority of who I see in my feed. Good to see you here!!!

  • Hello Melinda. Glad I found you here at 2.0. I'm still figuring a lot out so I'm trying to reserve my opinions until I have a better understanding of all the bells and whistles. I do miss being able to see when there were "rec" or "tag", and replies to my comments would show up. I think now I have to revisit every page to see if they found/replied?? That seems like a lot of extra work. 1300+ blogs you read? Wow. Where did you ever find the time?

  • I guess I don't have near that many friends or subs. Almost all of them have left Xanga.. That makes my Reading easy and the commenting too. I figure if they come up on my list and have commented that's a good thing!

  • I never particularly used friends, so it doesn't matter that they are combined with subs. The Reading feature is like the subsctiptions page -- I miss the UI, though, and messages, and the ability to recommend. It will take time to remember to go to the comments page for all conversation, whether comment or reply, too. I think I'll get used to it, and it will be more powerful than v1, but I'm a bit frustrated today!

  • Hi Vi! Still looking around, and might just have to do some house keeping once I know where things are. Not liking subs and friends together either, but I'm loving that we're here and still sharing the day!

  • I'm awaiting moderation. I think I got rid of that too. Spent some time in settings. (stands up, hits wall) ha!

  • I'm so lost with this new Xanga. It seems that my blog is gone. And I don't know how to start a new one. Can anybody help, please???

  • I hate that there are no links to the sites on this comment page! I am going to edit my number of following also, and it does bug me too.

  • Since I am on WordPress I am pretty accustomed to it. I also know that once they get everything going, they will turn on the features that will allow you to make your blog the equivalent to friendslock or where you can choose what posts to make private. Making posts private would be either you have a list, create a password that will be e-mailed to those you'd like to read and a few other ways.

    There won't be a recommend feature, but we will be able to reblog posts that we like. The person will have the choice to comment on your page or the original page.

    You'll get used to it. It is difficult, but once you do, you'll love blogging using the tools. Also I hope they turn on the shared blog feature. That way those of us with premium can invite people that can't pay to have a blog that they can write on.

  • I hadn't thought of unfollowing anyone...that's a good idea, I'm pretty sure that a bunch of mine have gone to be with Jesus =/ Barry and Nash brought the cookies by today, all I can say is I'm really glad someone didn't send in an address =) Thanks A Billion - ilym!!!!!

    I noticed on my "Following" page that some people's names I clicked on, their site is gone.
    I don't like having friends and subs combined...but in the WP format it's just "followers"...which makes me feel like I'm the Leader of a cult!!! ;-) :-P
