  • Paranoia

As some of you may know, @joyouswind caught the nasty norovirus that's going around. What she didn't mention in her post is that she ate supper with us the night before... And told us about her job being eliminated... And got several hugs from me. And then I read her post a few hours later and my first nurturing, motherly reaction was,

    "GAH!!! I HUGGED HER!!!"

Luckily, I ate breakfast before reading her post but I was so paranoid I was afraid to eat the rest of the day. I did eat, but only 2-3 hours after the usual mealtimes. Noon came and went, I didn't feel sick, my stomach started grumbling and I thought, "You should eat while you can," and made a turkey sandwich. Then dinnertime came and went, my stomach started grumbling, I didn't get sick so I warmed up some soup.

But then bedtime rolled around and I thought, "What if it hits during the night and you're so groggy from your Ambien that you can't make it to the bathroom?" So I didn't take my sleeping pill last night. Here's what I learned:

    1. I still have insomnia.
    2. When I catnap, I have weird and disturbing dreams.
    3. Snow plow drivers start work around 4 AM.
    4. Boo barks at Brett when he's shoveling the driveway.

Today I feel like that cartoon dog that propped his eyelids open with toothpicks. I can't find a photo of him, but if you were a kid in the 60s you can picture him. And on top of being sleepy, I have another killer sinus headache. I noticed an empty packet of Sudafed on the kitchen counter so Brett must be suffering too. There's a big red L right over us on the weather map; that might have something to do with it.

I haven't been out of the house in two days. I'd be perfectly willing to make it three, but Boo is almost out of treats and we can't have that. Bribery is the only thing that keeps him in check. So, seeing as how it's nearly 11 AM, I suppose I should take a shower, put on some clothes and start shoving snow off the van. I was really hoping I could hold out until the next melt. On the bright side, if the shower doesn't wake me up, the snow should do the trick.

I hope your Saturday doesn't involve norovirus, Ls or snow removal.

Just keep a bowl next to your bed, if you're worried!

If you make it to Monday without being sick, you could be in the clear. If not sick by Friday, I would think you really did dodge the bullet. Lol

I get the sinus crap too with the winds that we get. The Santa Ana winds  I known about 1-2 days before they hit as I get my allergy symptoms.  :(  around here they limit the amount one can buy of the sudafed so I stock up every chance I get. Along with the Claritin.

I got sick the other day while visiting friends. One of them made me a sick-sack. It came in very handy, and perfectly timed.

I am so grateful that we have an attached garage in this house.  I might be my very favorite thing about the whole house.  We had never had one before.  My daughter and one of her daughters is sick with something....cough, sore throat, fever, dizziness.  Sure hope we don't get it.

Good luck.  I figure if you aren't sick by now you probably won't be. *fingers crossed  for you.  Hope you got the treats.

I finally got the vaccine. Four of my students have had pnuemonia this year, four! That's almost 20% of my class. That's crazy! (My niece has had it, too.) So I've been squirting the hand sanitizer on them and trying not to breathe while at school. I currently have a cough but no other symptoms what-so-ever: What is that about?!?

My Saturday included a two-hour Textbook Adoption Committee meeting with the vendors. So I balanced that with a visit to KFC.  Chicken, cole slaw and biscuits make everything better.

Yikes!! I hope you both dodge that bullet! I had to go out today - went to get my locks shorn and celebrate my B'day with a former coworker and friend. Then I celebrated with a stop at Salvation Army and scored big... The party continues!!
