• Getting Personal

  
  @WildWomanOfTheWest asked some mighty personal questions on her blog yesterday. So of course I'm going to answer them.
  
  1. Do you load your silverware up or down in the dishwasher?
  

  • My husband is the dishwasher, so that is a “loaded” question. I believe I shall exercise my right to remain silent. What? You didn't know bloggers had the right to remain silent? Sometimes bloggers have the responsibility to remain silent. Sometimes, for the sake of their own perceived intelligence, bloggers should choose to remain silent, and maybe even think about trying some other creative outlet, like building things out of toothpicks or sticking things on their face.

  2. How often do you clean the inside of the refrigerator?
  

  • Wha’…? People do that? One time I made a two-layer chocolate cake with homemade peanut butter icing and the icing consistency was a little gooey so I put the cake in the fridge for the icing to firm up a bit. But instead, the top layer of the cake oozed off the bottom layer and slid down the back wall of the refrigerator, icing side down of course, and landed on the bottom shelf, icing side still down. I remember cleaning the refrigerator after that. But since then I’ve always put two-layer cakes in my Tupperware cake holder so if the top slides off it’s contained, so I don’t really need to clean the refrigerator anymore.

  
  3. Tabs, powder or liquid for your laundry?
  

  • I’m a pod person. I throw one of those Purex pods in each load. No more measuring; no more big plastic jugs in the recycling; no more caked powder on my blue jeans. I have moved with the times.

  
  

  
  4. Describe your toilet cleaning technique.
  

  • There are two techniques I favor. My go-to technique I always try first is to get somebody else to clean the toilet. If that fails and I must do it myself, I snap on a pair of disposable gloves and use Lysol flushable scrubbers (citrus scented) on the inside, Clorox disposable wipes (lemon scented) on the outside, and dissolving Clorox tablets (Clorox scented) in the tank. I once made the mistake of shining a UV light on the upstairs toilet. I would not advise anyone to do that, ever.

  
  5. Bleach: friend or foe?
  

  • See answer to #4. And for the laundry, mostly friend. When my mom is visiting, however, I hide the bleach. She loves bleach and pours it into every load, including the load containing all my colorful undies.
    

  
  Bonus question: When you were a kid, did your mom ask you if you were growing a potato patch in the dirt behind your ears?
  

  • If I’d known I could grow my own potatoes behind my ears, I would have done it in a heartbeat. I thought it was radishes that grew behind the ears, so I was careful to keep the dirt to a minimum.
