    Boring Update (Updated)

Another life update, not because I have nothing else to say, but because I want to spend more time on what I’ve started and choose my words carefully.

October was miserable; wet, cold and gloomy. November has been the glorious weather we usually get in October. Sunny days, blue skies, mild (for us) temperatures. It’s made it very difficult to spend my days painting the kitchen and, in point of fact, I haven’t spent as many doing that as I should. All I have left to do is the bottom of the walls. I’ve done a couple of small sections of wall, but got discouraged. I’m not a good painter for one thing. And then the only painters tape I could get at the village hardware store allowed the wet paint to bleed and pulled chips of the dry paint off with it when I peeled the tape from the walls. Hence my public service announcement the other day. I’ve taken the past couple of days off, but need to get back to painting this morning.

Brett and I are probably going to see The Men Who Stare At Goats this afternoon. I’ve heard it’s funny. We haven’t been to a movie in months. And speaking of movies, I can’t decide whether to get the new Star Trek DVD for Brett for Christmas, or just buy it and watch it. Maybe we’ll watch it, then I’ll wrap it and give it to him for Christmas. That could work!

The news from Texas regarding our nephew is not good and much prayer is needed. A miracle is needed. His situation has consumed me the past few days and I’ve been a bit of a wreck. Writing has been difficult. I will just apologize now for the bipolar nature of my posts, both past and future. They reflect the chaotic state of my emotions. Be patient with me; I’ll settle down eventually. Maybe.

I went to the nearest Barnes and Noble yesterday, which happens to be in South Bend, Indiana. I called a friend and met her and her adorable son, Samuel, for a couple of hours catching up. Next time I go to South Bend I’m getting Samuel that “Yightning McQueen” toy flip phone from the Disney Store. Just because I love how he says “Yightning McQueen.” And because he’s pretty much irresistible. Next time I go to South Bend, I’d also like to meet my xanga friend who lives there. Maybe for a bit of geocaching. Maybe we should plan to go down there while this glorious October weather holds.

While I was in Barnes and Noble, I found a really funny book. I’m thinking about a contest sometime after Thanksgiving and the book will be the prize. I have to read it first, you know. I’ll be careful not to break the binding. The contest will have something to do with zombies. And Christmas. It’s still in the development phase.

It’s after 10 AM and I still need to shower and get dressed so I can start painting. Really, painting is not good incentive at all to get moving on a Saturday morning. I hope the rest of you are doing something much more fun today.

ETA: The goat movie was.... bizarre. Funny, but weird. Brett says we'll watch the Star Trek DVD and I can get him Iron Man for Christmas. I like how the man thinks.

That movie sounds really good, I wanna see it!  If you go see it lemme know how it is:)

Sending lots of prayers for you and your family *HUGS*

Um, no, not really. Hahaha I've got a lot of reading and research to do.(Which of course I've been putting off...ugg) Have to cook something for dinner, more than likely the avocado, mango, and scallop salad thing. Yeah, that sounds easy. :) I hope you have a peaceful day.

I will continue in my prayers for all.

Also feel the lethargy of Sat. morning sliding into noontime. I have been busy -cleaning, mopping, laundry. Tonight is football with friends - I'm counting on pizza.

We really have to meet up. Let me know when you are planning to come to SB next (if it is during the week I might even be able to get the day off...).

Personally Vi.....I think you should have a beer and rethink this painting thing.
I'm not sure you're over the tape episode...face it, it was traumatic and calls for more beer to fully recover.

Trust me, I'm older than you.

@Bricker59 - I bow to your superior age and wisdom. I'm going to change out of my painting clothes, go outside and enjoy this gorgeous day.

Read the book before you give it to someone, hm...? ;) I bought my mother the Gormenghast trilogy for Christmas and I just might try finishing at least the first volume before December 25th gets here. It's just this totally off-kilter book and British besides. I too am trying not to break the binding.

@The44thHour - Avocado, mango, and scallop salad? Interesting grouping of flavors; sounds mild and sweet. Will it be chilled?

I'm with Bricker, beer is to the emotions as duct tape is to everything else that needs repair.  Boy do I sound like and educator.  I spent the day shopping, which I hate so I am at present on my second beer and plan on chasing that with a third followed by homemade pizza and a movie with my family.  I suggest the same thing then call me in the morning if that doesn't work.

I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and praying.

    ((((hugs))))

I wish I could help you paint! I love painting. The good guy hates it, so it's a good thing I love it.

Prayers for the nephew. Peace to all the family.

I'm looking forward to see the Goats movie too.

  • mrcolorful

The goat movie was definitely bizarre.

  • The44thHour

@TheModernBunny - Well the scallops will be straight off the skillet, but everything else will be cool/room temp.

With my computer down I missed many a day here on Xanga.  Your photo blog below was lovely and your words resonate with my heart.  I thank you for that Vi. My prayers will continue for Will and your family.  What a weight on the hearts for all of you. (pats heart and points to you)  Oh yeah...Bricker has some good advice as usual.  He's a heart lifter too.

Zombie Christmas shoppers?  O yeah, I see those a lot [O.o].  Usually with a crying protesting child dragged alongside of them [or in a cart]!  The horror!

Thanks for the movie mini review.  Paul wants to see it. Sorry that kitchen isn't getting done.  I quit my job friday (gave two months notice, we'll see how much they take me up on).  If you don't have it done by the time I'm out the door I don't mind coming to help.  I actually *like* painting!

i've been trying to motivate myself to get some things done at our house... it's not an easy task by yourself. the chore list, OR the motivating.

i know how you are feeling about the bipolar nature of your posts... but when bad things are going on, that's the nature of life, seems like. things are fine one minute, and can change for the better or worse in a second. don't worry about it... you are where you are, and as my friend ifwallscouldtalk21 says, "it's your blog. if people don't like it, they don't have to read it."
my mom told me months ago she wanted to have us over for dinner, for j's birthday. they were out of town during it... it was in september, and no dinner so far. so, i called the other night & proposed a dinner for tuesday. she said, "why then?" the response...
"star trek is coming out. you do dinner, we'll buy the movie." (they haven't seen it yet, gasp...!)

My mother and sister bought me a season of "Smallville" for Christmas several months in advance, hid from me so they could watch it, and then gave it to me for Christmas. So, it's not unheard of. I didn't mind.
